The address reads simply To the Lord, l.p.h., Steward Iy-ib, l.p.h. On the back is written From Neni.
There is no envelope, the letter is simply folded tied with string and sealed with clay. While we have relatively few surviving letters, the remains of seals from letters are quite abundant in many sites and indicate that a great deal of both official and private letter writing went on.
Letters in Egypt were not delivered by any sort of
postal
system, so there is never any location given. Letters were
carried
by family, friends, servants, or anyone who happened to be going in the
right direction.
